The aim of this session is to build some foundational knowledge and awareness of the basics of EDI to ensure organisational compliance with the legal requirements, enabling you to feel confident in the different areas of your work. It also offers a first step to beginning to raise awareness amongst your people of the social justice business case for creating an inclusive culture, and the benefits this will bring to encourage increased engagement.
Modules/Lessons
- introduce the social justice business case for EDI and explore what opportunities this offers for everyone to take responsibility for engaging with EDI regardless of role or level.
- equip you with the foundational knowledge of the legislative requirements and explore where and how these may impact your organisation and your work.
- ensure you have sufficient understanding of the nine protected characteristics and what these mean for how you do your work.
- explore some of the key areas around discrimination to build some insights into where and how this can show up in the workplace, and what behaviours are appropriate and inappropriate.
